Political leaders and public figures have continued to send condolence messages to music star Davido over the tragic death of his three-year-old son Ifeanyi.

The boy drowned in his Lagos home on Monday.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar offered his prayers, wishing the ‘Stand Strong’ crooner strength and comfort.

“My thoughts and prayers are with Davido and Chioma and the Adeleke family at this time. I pray for God to strengthen and comfort them,” Mr Abubakar tweeted.

Labour minister Festus Keyamo also expressed his condolences.

“I was actually waiting for a family statement on this to be sure. My condolences to this young family for experiencing this grief at this time,” Mr Keyamo. “May God Almighty grant the Adeleke family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss; and to all those who have suffered (a) similar fate.”

Ex-education minister Oby Ezekwesili also mourned with the family, describing the loss as painful.

“What a painful news to read that one of our young iconic musicians, Davido, lost his son! Ah. This is hard. May God just carry, speak peace and comfort their family, because only He really can say anything meaningful to them at this time,” she tweeted.

Police authorities confirmed the death of Ifeanyi David Adeleke this morning.

On Monday, Peoples Gazette reported that the three-year-old drowned in a private swimming pool at the family’s residence in Lagos, according to a family source who informed Peoples Gazette about the development.

“The boy was inside water for too long, and they pulled him out and rushed him to the hospital,” the family source said on the condition of anonymity to await an official statement. “By the time they rushed him to Lagoon Hospital, it was already too late.”

Master Adeleke was born on October 20, 2019, to Davido’s girlfriend, Chioma Rowland.
