Delta govt to demolish structures on waterways to tackle flooding

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta says his administration plans to demolish all structures on waterways to tackle the menace of flooding in the state.

Mr Oborevwori stated this at a thanksgiving service in honour of the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Dennis Guwor, at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Redemption Hall, Mega Parish, Effurun.

He promised to restore the lost glory of Warri, Uvwie and its environs through massive infrastructural development.

The governor said he saw a viral video of a flooded road in Warri, resulting from structures erected on waterwaysand promised to address the situation.

“We will rebuild infrastructures in Warri with good roads, flyovers, drainages and street lights, and we shall restore the lost glory of the oil city,” he said.

Mr Oborevwori expressed delight in joining the speaker and his family in thanking God for his elevation as the number one lawmaker in the state, saying that God is always pleased when men give thanks to Him.

He advised the speaker to hold on to God in his private and public life.

Mr Oborevwori also advised the speaker to trust God in his private and public life and to remain humble and accountable to his colleagues. 

In his remarks, the speaker, while expressing appreciation to God for his elevation, said his continuous thanksgiving to God had been seeing him through in his political journeys
