Mr Lawan-KofarNasarawa said that the warning became necessary as some film-makers now portray the service in negative light.

The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Correctional Service has cautioned film-makers against portraying the service negatively in movies.

The service gave the warning on Wednesday in a statement issued in Kano by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Musbahu Lawan-KofarNasarawa.

Mr Lawan-KofarNasarawa said that the warning became necessary as some film-makers now portray the service in negative light.

He said, “The attention of the service has been drawn to activities of some film-makers who use the service uniforms, insignia and accoutrements in their films without due permission from the service. The service vehemently condemns these malicious acts which are deliberately targeted at smearing the image of NCoS and discrediting the good work been done to ensure the safety in custody of the legally interned and ensuring that they are properly rehabilitated, reformed and empowered to return back to their communities as useful citizens.’’

He advised film-makers and other persons who wish to feature any aspect of the service in their movies to seek approval from the service before producing such movies.

He added, “The service is open to collaborations with film-makers as well as other stakeholders in the film industry and media in ensuring that the image of the service is protected and projected.’’
