Junaidu’s death huge blow to education sector, says NMC director
The Director/Chief Executive, National Mathematical Centre, Prof. Promise Mebine, has expressed sadness over the death of Prof. Ismail Junaidu, describing his death as a huge blow to the education sector.
Mebine expressed this in a statement to journalists on Wednesday in Abuja.
Mr Junaidu was until his death the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council.
He reportedly died in the early hours of July 25 in Damaturu, Yobe State, where he was attending the Joint Consultative Committee on Education Programme.
Mr Mebine said that the late Junaidu was an educationist and administrator, who contributed immensely to the growth and development of education in the country.
He further described him as a luminary and visionary academician, whose impact in education and other spheres of life would live far beyond him.
He prayed to God to give the deceased immediate family and staff members of NERDC the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
