A Lagos driver bolted away with his employer’s vehicle on his first day at work and turned up in a Lagos church to dedicate the automobile to God for blessing him.

The police have since apprehended him.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesman for the Lagos police command, disclosed this on Tuesday.

“We also have somebody here who was employed as a driver. The same day he resumed (sic) work, he went away with the car,” Mr Hundeyin said. “Interestingly, he dedicated the car in church the next Sunday.”

The man, whose name and identity were undisclosed, confessed to stealing his employer’s car and taking it to his pastor for dedication.

“I stole the car and took it to my pastor that this is what God has done for me,” the man said.

The police also paraded another suspect, a mechanic who confessed to absconding with cars entrusted to him for repairs to sell them off.

Mr Hundeyin further disclosed that the police had apprehended an armed robbery syndicate comprising four individuals, among whom were two dismissed soldiers.
