EFCC arrests 22 suspected internet fraudsters in Akwa-Ibom

A series of mobile phones, laptops, a silver-coloured Toyota Corolla car among others were recovered from the suspects.

Operatives of the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economics and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday arrested 22 internet fraudsters across the state. 

Spokesman of the anti-graft agency, Wilson Uwajuaren, via the agency’s Facebook page, said their arrests were made in a sting operation carried out by its operatives.

The suspects are all males within the age range of 18-24, arrested mostly in Uyo and Ikot Ekpene areas of the state, following intelligence garnered by the agency.

The recovered items from the suspects include a series of highly sophisticated mobile phones and laptops, a silver-coloured Toyota Corolla car among others.

The suspects will be charged to court following the completion of investigation.
