The council boss urged residents fond of embarking on late-night journeys to desist because most kidnappers attacked during the night.

The Chairman of Oye Local Government Area in Ekiti, Sunday Ajimoko, has cautioned residents against late-night journeys to avoid being kidnapped by gunmen.

Mr Ajimoko, who spoke in an interview on Wednesday in Oye-Ekiti, said the roads were no longer safe after 9:00 p.m.

He urged residents fond of embarking on late-night journeys to desist because most kidnappers attacked during the night.

“I want to urge residents fond of embarking on late-night journeys to desist from such habit.

“The roads are no longer safe for anybody to be on the road beyond 9:00 p.m. because some of these gunmen perpetrate their evil acts at night.”

Nonetheless, he noted that security agencies were working towards ensuring a safe environment for residents.

Mr Ajimoko advised residents to always give proper details about their journey to their family members to know their movement.

The chairman also urged landlords to ensure the identity of their tenants to avoid harbouring criminals and for the safety of their lives and properties.
