Enugu: Governor-elect Peter Mbah pays thank-you visit to Ugwuanyi

Governor-elect Peter Mbah and Deputy Governor-elect Ifeanyi Ossai, Wednesday night paid homage to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi at the Government House, Enugu, to thank him following their victory at the polls.

With Mr Ugwuanyi to receive the visitors, were the speaker of the Enugu House of Assembly, Edward Ubosi; the PDP chairman of the statw, Augustine Nnamani; a lawmaker at the Senate, Gil Nnaji; the lawmakers representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo and Enugu North/South federal constituencies, Cornelius Nnaji and Ofor Chukwuegbo.

Others present were the secretary to the state government, Simon Ortuanya; the deputy chief of staff, Malachy Okwueze; finance commissioner, Adaonah Kene-Uyanwune; special advisers to the governor on special duties and information, Uwakwe Azikiwe, and Steve Oruruo, amongst others.

Mr Mbah had earlier paid a thank-you visit to Enugu indigenes and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who had occupied INEC headquarters in Enugu, since March 20, demanding the announcement of the March 18 governorship election results.

INEC last night announced Mr Mbah as the winner of the election with 160,895 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party, who got 157,552 votes.
