Champions Manchester City will be at home on Friday 11, August to kick off the 2023/24 Premier League in a match against newly promoted side Burnley, managed by their former captain Vincent Kompany.

They are currently on three consecutive Premier League title wins and will seek to become the first EPL club to win four consecutive league titles when the new campaign begins.

City’s arch-rivals, Manchester United, will play the last game of the opening matchday on Monday as they start their season at Old Trafford against Wolves. The Red Devils will be playing their first game of a new season at home for the seventh consecutive time.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s new manager Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure at the helm of affairs at Stamford Bridge will begin with a high profile opening matchday fixture against Liverpool on Sunday.

In other matchday one fixtures, Arsenal will host Nottingham Forest at home. Forest put the final nail on Arsenal’s coffin with a 1-0 win over Mikel Arteta’s side in the penultimate matchday of last season as the Gunners bottled the league title to City.

Brighton host Luton Town, who would be playing in the topflight division for the first time since 1992. Newcastle United tango Aston Villa, Fulham will travel to Everton while Sheffield United host Crystal Palace.

Also on Sunday, Brentford will host Tottenham in a low-level London derby. The Bees were the only team to beat Manchester City both home and away during the 2022/23 season.

The 2023-24 Premier League season concludes on Sunday, 19 May 2024 – the campaign will also return to normal calendar following disruption in that of the previous seasons due to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic and 2022 FIFA World Cup – clubs will be given a weekend off in January.
