The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration on Monday said Ethiopia has generated more than $5.1 billion in export earnings during the first six months of the current fiscal year.

The ministry said this development outperformed its initial projections as the results mark a notable rise in trade performance and reflect the country’s ongoing economic reform efforts.

The news was reported by Fana Media Corporation, a partner of TV BRICS.

The minister, Kasahun Gofe, said Ethiopia originally targeted $4.42 billion in export revenue for the period.

Actual performance reached 120 per cent of that goal, representing an increase of $1.83 billion compared with the same period in 2026.

The minister described the outcome as a step toward broader economic revitalisation and institutional strengthening.

He highlighted progress in implementing the Digital Ethiopia 2030 Strategy within the trade sector.

Authorities are continuing to coordinate efforts to sustain this momentum and achieve the national export target of $9.4 billion by the end of the fiscal year.

The strategy focuses on improving trade systems, expanding market access, and supporting long-term, sustainable economic growth.
