The chairman of the Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crime and Anti-Corruption Commission (ODSPFAC), Williams Akinrotoye, has called for the support of stakeholders to stem the tide of corruption, especially financial crimes.

Mr Akinrotoye addressed journalists on Tuesday in Akure about the state anti-graft agency’s move to partner with security agencies and stakeholders in achieving a fraud-free society, particularly in government establishments.

“It must be noted that wrestling down corruption is neither child’s play nor a one-man affair. The government alone cannot do it. All hands must be on deck if we want to have the fraud-free society of our dreams.

“We ask for cooperation from the law enforcement agencies, namely The Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Amotekun, and other relevant agencies,” Mr Akinrotoye said.

The retired justice of the state said the commission observed that corruption is not limited to government offices; it is also prevalent in open markets and places of worship.

The state anti-graft agency chairman affirmed that the primary mandate of the body was to curb the devastating effects of corruption, adding that the cause would be pursued professionally in line with best practices.

“This is why it is imperative to create an environment that enables strong and independent institutions like ours to oversee government activities and the general public,” he said.

While noting that the anti-corruption body would maintain its integrity by being impartial, Mr Akinrotoye said the commission’s staff would work in the public interest and be pragmatic.

He disclosed that the agency needed to be meticulous in fighting corruption and hunting down financial malpractice agents.

“So, our approach to issues will be multidimensional but devoid of bias or animosity. We promise to be fair to all in the exercise of our power under the enabling Law, yet we will not compromise in any way.

“We will examine the practices, systems, and procedures of MDAs in the state. Scorecards will be issued with a view to enforcing compliance and fidelity,” Mr Akinrotoye said.
