Five killed in Akure road crash

Five people, including toddlers, have lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident that occurred on the Akure/Ado road along Iju/Itaogbolu in Akure North LGA.
The crash occurred on Sunday when a commercial bus loaded with passengers lost control and rammed into a truck in a head-on collision.
Samuel Ibitoye, FRSC’s sector commander in Ondo, confirmed the fatal crash.
While attributing the crash to excessive speeding, Mr Ibitoye said that the remains of the victims, which included two males and three females, had been evacuated by the command and deposited at the morgue of the Specialists Hospital, Akure.
The victims, it was gathered, all died on the spot.
A witness, Bola Agbanoja, stated that the drivers of the two vehicles were trapped behind the wheel, as the crash caused gridlock on the highway.
“It was a sad scene. The drivers were too reckless on the road. Sadly, five people, including two toddlers, died in the crash. It took the timely arrival of emergency vehicles and personnel to rescue the remaining passengers in the vehicles,” she said.
