Lucky Aiyedatiwa, deputy governor of Ondo, has apologised to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, over the political crisis involving both politicians in the state.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday at the governor’s office in Akure, the deputy governor also appealed to Mr Akeredolu to disregard the discomfort the “negative news” has caused him in the past few months.

He specifically noted that the recent impeachment proceedings against him by the State House of Assembly and the ensuing reactions have further created division and chaos, which has questioned his loyalty to Mr Akeredolu.

“Our beloved state has witnessed a series of events triggered by the health challenges faced by Mr. Governor, which gave rise to misunderstandings, misconceptions, assumptions, and insinuations, and exploited by political contenders preparing for the upcoming 2024 gubernatorial election

“It is in reference to the above that I hereby tender my unreserved apologies to Mr Governor and the good people of Ondo state, and I assure you that, together, we will both complete this journey with honour, divine guidance and in good health by the grace of God,” Mr Aiyedatiwa told reporters in the early hours of Thursday.
