Gov. Idris donates N50 million to traders affected by fire in Jega

Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has donated N50 million to traders whose shops were gutted by fire in Jega Local Government Area of the state.

The governor also donated N10 million to the family of one Musibau, who lost his life alongside his wife and a three-month-old baby as a result of the fire incident.

Mr Idris made the donation on Thursday when he paid a condolence visit to the family residence of the deceased as well as the scene of the market inferno.

He said: “N50 million is for those whose shops were burnt down on Jan. 16, 2024, while N10 million is for the family that lost their lives.

“At this juncture, I want to pray to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased shortcomings and grant them Jannatul Firdaus.”

The governor described the inferno as an act of God Almighty that nobody had the right to question, advising the bereaved family members and friends to always remember the deceased in their prayers for God Almighty to have mercy on their souls.

On the governor’s entourage were the secretary to the state government (SSG), Yakubu Tafida; chairman, civil service commission and former deputy governor, Bello Dantani; and special adviser on infrastructure and inter-governmental affairs, Abubakar Malam.

Others were the commissioner for special duties, Zayyanu Aliero; chairman, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Bello Rilisco, and permanent secretary, Abubakar Sagir.
