Gov Mohammed presents N94.6 billion supplementary budget to Bauchi assembly

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, on Tuesday, presented N94.6 billion supplementary budget to the State House of Assembly for approval.

The governor’s request was conveyed in a letter and read at the plenary by the House’s majority leader, Babayo Akuyam.

He said the request was pursuant to section 122 of the constitution, adding that the budget would facilitate the execution of priority projects aimed at improving the well-being of the citizens.

Mr Mohammed reiterated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure, human capital development, and health and educational sectors.

The speaker, Abubakar Sulaiman, referred the proposed estimate to the House Committee on Budget and Appropriation for further legislative actions.

Meanwhile, Mr Sulaiman announced the establishment of the House Committee on Food Security and Nutrition.

According to him, the committee will assist towards achieving optimal nutrition status in the state.

“This committee is for the citizens of Bauchi with a focus on the most vulnerable, especially women and children, as well as internally displaced persons, to meet the food and nutrition needs,” said the speaker.
