Gov. Oyetola releases N1.1 billion to pay Osun pensioners

N600 million is for retired primary school teachers and local government workers, while N500 million is for civil servants under the contributory pension.

Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun has released N1.1 billion to pay pensions of retired civil servants in the state.

A statement by the Head of Service, Festus Olowogboyega, on Monday in Osogbo, said that N600 million of the money would be for the payment of retired primary school teachers and local government workers.

Mr Olowogboyega said that the governor approved the remaining N500 million for the payment of civil servants under the contributory pension.

He said the selected retirees would get their bonds on June 2.

Mr Olowogboyega noted that the beneficiaries list had been pasted on the Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation notice board, the State’s Pension Bureau, and the Office of the Head of Service.

He said the governor was committed to the welfare of the retired and active civil servants in the state and would continue to prioritise their welfare.
