Kaduna state governor, Uba Sani, has expressed concern over the high rate of out-of-school children in the state.

The governor’s concern is expressed in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Muhammad Shehu, on Thursday in Kaduna.

He stated that the concern was as a result of statistics from the outcome of the meeting between the governor and chairman/management team of the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (KADSUBEB).

According to him, the rising number of out-of-school children in Kaduna state is unacceptable.

The governor, however, charged relevant agencies to work toward leveraging on his administration’s commitment to invest in human capital, improving the quality of teachers and teaching standard.

“This is to ensure that education investments produce the desired outcome,” he added.

Mr Sani emphasised that reducing the number of out-of-school children is a priority for his administration and urged

stakeholders to work toward achieving the goal.

He promised to present a report on the issue of out-of-school children in Kaduna state at the national economic council

to attract funding and support from the federal government and relevant stakeholders.

The governor also reiterated his administration’s commitment to provide quality education for all children in Kaduna state,

regardless of their socio-economic background.

He urged parents and guardians to take advantage of the free education policy in the state to ensure that their children enrolled in schools, stressing that education is crucial to young people, as it will enable them to reach their full potential.”
