Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has restated his administration’s commitment towards the welfare of ex-servicemen and families of fallen heroes in the state.

Mr Sule stated this at an event to mark the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Lafia on Monday.

He said his administration had taken steps towards improving the welfare of veterans in the state and the families of soldiers who died in defence of the nation.

”As a government, we are aware of the sacrifices made by men of the Nigerian legion. We are doing our part to make them happy,” he said.

The governor described the Armed Forces Remembrance Day as historic, following the sacrifices made by the fallen heroes to maintain the unity and integrity of the country.

”They fought very hard for our freedom and our independence. They have continued to promote the unity of our dear nation; they are worth celebrating,” he said.

This year’s celebration theme is ”We Remember Our Fallen Heroes.”

The event featured special prayers and gun salutes for the fallen heroes.
