Governor Yusuf reaffirms commitment to strengthen Kano-India relations
The Kano state government says it is committed to strengthening its symbiotic relationship with India for the socio-economic development of the state.
This is contained in a statement issued by Gov. Abba Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, in Kano on Friday.
According to the statement, Mr Yusuf made the remark when he received the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Shri Balasubramanian, who paid him a courtesy visit.
Mr Yusuf said that India and Kano state had a relationship of many years in the areas of education, health, agriculture, technology and trade that needed to be strengthened for the mutual benefits of India and Kano state.
He expressed delight at India’s fast development in education and healthcare sectors which, he said, attracted hundreds of Kano indigenes to India universities and for treatment.
The governor assured of continuous collaboration with Kano state government to complete its two mega power projects in Tiga and Challawa for the revival of moribund industries and socio-economic development of the state.
Earlier, Mr Balasubramanian said that he visited the governor to introduce himself and discuss ways of working together in many facets of human lives.
Mr Balasubramanian commended Mr Yusuf for executing viable projects and programmes aimed at improving the living condition of the people of Kano state.
