There are petitions launched on the Internet in favor of Haiti’s new constitution. There is an English version and a French version. Some people have already started signing it. These people believe that the country needs a new constitution where everyone will have their chance in the new Haiti.

A new constitution will allow 25-year-old and older candidates to run for the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial.

The new constitution was first proposed by the former President of Haiti Jovenel Moise, and other leaders, but it was postponed because of high COVID cases. Some leaders believe the former President’s proposed constitution needs to be edited.

The current Prime Minister of Haiti Ariel Henry will have to establish a new constitution, in which candidates under the age of 35 will have the chance to participate in the general election to be elected in one of the branches of government of their choice. There are many other valuable changes for the country that this constitution is proposing.

The petitions launched on the internet in favor of the new constitution were created by Haitian politician Werley Nortreus and other leaders who support the same cause. The creator of the petitions is among the leaders who are engaged in a fight to change the country’s situation. It is an opportunity for a new Haiti, where everyone is included in the country’s prosperity after many years of suffering.

According to the English and French versions, here is what the creator says about why he created the petitions:

The only way to have a new Haiti is to establish a new constitution that gives candidates who are 25 years old and older the right to run for a position among the three branches of the government according to their choice. A new constitution where everyone is included is the only way Haitians will be able to change the miserable situation that Haiti is in because of its old constitution.

In case anyone wants to sign the petitions to support Haiti’s new constitution, please follow here and here.
