IGP Baba deploys Frank Mba, Idowu Omohunwa, other commissioners for presidential election duty nationwide

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, has dispatched Frank Mba, Idowu Omohunwa and over a hundred commissioners across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to maintain security ahead of the nation’s presidential polls.

The list of commissioners, according to a police signal obtained by Peoples Gazette, showed over 150 police chiefs were deployed across the country for the presidential election on February 25.

The officers were assigned to supervise police security in senatorial zones nationwide.  

The circular, dated February 20, 2023, and released by the force secretary, showed Frank Mba was posted to monitor the exercise in Ogun state command while Idowu Omohunwa was to supervise election security in Lagos state. 

Other commissioners on the list include Aliyu Haruna in charge of Adamawa North, Yusuf Akeem in Taraba South, Taiwo Adeleki in Nasarawa South, Godwin N. Aghaulor to Katsina Central district, Lanre Sikiru in Rivers West.

Deputy commissioners include Abbas Sule deployed to Jigawa North West, Rashid Afegbua to Plateau North, Mary Okereke to Cross River Central, Margaret Ochalla to Kogi Central, Auwal Musa to Sokoto North and Usman Tahir to Gombe state. 

Mr Baba directed the deployed officers to resume their posts latest February 21 and exhibit the highest sense of professionalism and neutrality in their conduct before, during and after the voting exercise.
