I’m certain Nigerians would elect me their president next month: Tinubu

Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), says he’s certain that Nigerians would vote for him in the next month’s poll.

Mr Tinubu, who spoke in Akure, the Ondo State capital, during his presidential campaign, added that he was well aware that he will win the presidential race.

“Our rally (campaign) today, signals a new hope for Nigeria. I know by February 25, you would go and make a wise decision. You would vote for me.

“I am too sure that you would vote for me. You would vote for APC. We would vote and we will win. Don’t lost your PVCs and don’t let them steal your vote,” he said.

Mr Tinubu, a former two-term governor of Lagos state, would be joining other leading major contenders, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in the next month’s poll.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last year released the names of 18 presidential candidates for the February 25 election.

Speaking further, the APC presidential candidate said the election was about capacity and the ability to deliver on electoral promises.

Mr Tinubu also tackled Messrs Abubakar and Obi, saying both men cannot be trusted with power if either of them were to be elected president of the country.

“Atiku (Abubakar) cannot do it because you cannot entrust him with power. Obi (Peter) is very stingy. He has the chance to save the people when he’s a governor in Anambra but prefers to save money,” Mr Tinubu added.

He, however, tasked his supporters to continue in their “aggressive” campaigns by ensuring that the APC emerged victorious in the general elections.

Earlier, the governor of Ondo, Rotimi Akeredolu, said that the people of the state would deliver massive votes for Mr Tinubu in the February 25 election.

Among those who attended the campaign rally were; governors Dapo Abiodun, Babatunde Sanwolu, Abdullahi Ganduje of Ogun, Lagos and Kano States, as well as ex-governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun and the immediate past governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola among others.
