Residents of Jimeta in the Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State were thrown into panic on Wednesday as gunmen reportedly attacked the state police headquarters.

Confirming the attack, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, told Daily Trust, that “The attack was repelled, but the identities of those behind it was unknown.”

According to the medium, a source alleged that the attackers were soldiers on a reprisal following the alleged killing of a soldier by the police.

The police also disclosed that investigations were ongoing to ascertain the cause of the attack and those behind it.

Recall that some officials of the Nigerian Air Force and some officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission engaged in a face off on Friday at the Kaduna Zonal Command of the anti-graft agency in an attempt to forcefully free their colleagues arrested by the commission operatives over alleged internet-related fraud activities.
