The kidnapped Ondo Islamic cleric, Ibrahim Bodunde Oyinlade, has been released barely 24 hours after his abduction, Peoples Gazette can report.

Mr Oyinlade, who is the Chief Imam of the Uso community in Owo Local Council Area of the state, was abducted on his farm on Saturday.

A security source, who confirmed the release of the popular Islamic cleric to The Gazette, said the victim was released on the Akure-Owo express road Sunday evening.

The source, however, could not give further details of Mr Oyinlade’s release, saying “it could jeopardise the ongoing investigation into the kidnap case.”

Several efforts made by The Gazette to contact the spokesperson for the Ondo Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, for details of the victim’s release proved abortive.

Mrs Odunlami-Omisanya’s line was not connecting while a message sent to her mobile phone was yet to deliver as of the time of filling this report.

Mr Oyinlade was kidnapped on his farm located at Asolo camp in the Uso community by armed men.

Sources had claimed that the gunmen numbering about five masquerades as local farmers before marching their target into the forest, leaving behind his vehicle and mobile phone.
