The abducted Oloso of Oso at Ajowa-Akoko in the Akoko North-West local government area of Ondo has regained his freedom.

Clement Jimoh Olukotun was released on Wednesday evening after being held hostage for a week by kidnappers.

A family source told Peoples Gazette that Mr Olukotun was freed after several negotiations over the ransom for his release.

“Although, he (Olukotun) is now receiving medical care at a private hospital as we speak,” the source said.

“I might not be able to categorically tell you that, but there were several intervention efforts from well-meaning people in the Akoko area, including from other traditional rules in the axis,” stated the source when asked if the family paid a ransom.

Mr Olukotun was abducted from his palace last week, with the kidnappers demanding N100 million ransom, but later reduced to N10 million.

Police spokeswoman Funmilayo Odunlami in Ondo said she was “still waiting to be debriefed by the DPO in charge of the area.”
