Some youths in Lagos on Thursday endorsed the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, aiming to deliver 4.5 million votes in Lagos to him in the February 25 presidential polls.

The youths’ stakeholders made this known in Lagos on Thursday at the Lagos Youth Forum to endorse Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s candidacies.

The programme was organised by the Agege Local Government.

The state Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Olusegun Dawodu, said out of the 7.5 million registered voters in Lagos, 4.5 million votes had been targeted for Mr Tinubu to ensure his victory at the poll.

The commissioner said the youths that were not into politics in the state had agreed to endorse Mr Tinubu and also mobilised support for him across the 20 local government areas in the state.

He described Mr Tinubu as the best candidate for the 2023 presidential race, noting that the APC flag bearer’s manifesto had spelled out how professionals, women and youth would be carried along if elected to ensure good governance in the country.

Mr Dawodu noted that with the dividends of democracy Tinubu had provided when he governed Lagos State, if given the opportunity to govern the country, he would lift Nigeria to greater heights.

Also, the Vice-Chairman, Agege Local Government, Gbenga Abiola, said the youths had agreed to endorse Messrs Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu because of their achievements in the development of the state

“The over 2000 youths that have gathered here together is not about the usual social media noise, it is more of a grassroots support for Tinubu and other progressives candidates in the state.

“These are the youths that are not in any political party but have agreed to come together to endorse Tinubu and also Sanwo-Olu because of their achievements in the development of the state

“Lagos was the most insecure state before 1999 and today it is the most secure state. Lagos; the dirtiest state before 1999 but because of the policy driven by Tinubu’s ideology, it is now one of the cleanest states.

“Lagos, the most unemployable state before 1999 but today all the tribes from different part of the country are in the state to seek employment,” he said.

In his remark, the Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, Biliaminu Suleiman-Oba, noted that youths in the state had seen the reasons why they should support Tinubu as the next president.

Mr Suleiman-Oba said the youths in the state could only contribute their quota to the development of the country by voting for Mr Tinubu, Governor Sanwo-Olu and other progressives candidates.

“What the Lagos youths are doing here today is to tell the whole world that Lagos youths are standing 100 per cent with a Lagos indigene who happens to be a visionary.

“Tinubu is one of the few people since 1999 till date that has been consistent with nation building and has contributed his quota to the country at large.

“Therefore, I want to appeal to youths to erase the culture of what will they give me, what is my share if I vote for a particular candidate.

“We all need to start seeing the need that whatever we do on the day of the election, we are actually contributing our quota to nation building which is our franchise and civil responsibility.

“It is when you vote for the right candidate, that is when you call for more development for the country,” he said.

Mr Suleiman-Oba urged youths to come out en masse this Saturday to vote for Mr Tinubu because he had done it before and he could do it better as the president of the country.

Speaking, the Speaker, the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Dr Azeezat Yishawu, said her group was confident in youths to mobilise young people to exercise their civic responsibility.

Ms Yishawu, also a Youth Ambassador, said youths in the state were promising millions of votes for Tinubu because most young people in the state were in full support of the APC presidential candidate.

“This is because we believe he is the best candidate. He is a talent hunter.

“He has mobilised a lot of successful people who can work in government across the states of the country,” she said.
