The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has extended its condolences to the Zazzau Emirate over the death of some worshippers following the collapse of a part of Zaria Central Mosque on Friday.

This is contained in a statement issued by JNI secretary general, Khalid Aliyu, on Saturday in Kaduna.

The group also commiserates with the families of the victims and the entire Muslim community over the incident, which occurred during evening prayers at the mosque.

“It is with deep sorrow that we learned about the collapse of a part of the mosque, resulting in the loss of precious lives and leaving several others injured.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones, and we pray for the speedy recovery of those who sustained injuries during this unfortunate incident.

“This incident is a painful reminder of the fragility of life and the unpredictability of accidents.

“We urge everyone to join hands in supporting and comforting the affected families during this challenging time,” the group said.

The group said it is the responsibility of all to ensure places of worship are safe havens for worshippers and called for a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the incident.

“JNI calls upon the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the causes of this tragic incident.

“Safety measures should be reviewed and implemented where necessary to prevent similar accidents from happening in the future.

“As we extend our condolences and prayers to the Zazzau Emirate and the Muslim community, we also implore God for protection against future accidents and calamities,” it said.

JNI said it was standing with the Zazzau Emirate during this challenging period and prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the dead victims.

The group also asked God to grant strength and patience to the families of both the dead and injured victims.

“We will continue to identify with the community and the entire humanity, seeking ways to help ease the pain caused by this tragic incident,” it added.
