National Youth Games: 14-year-old Anambra athlete emerges fastest sprinter in 100m heat
A 14-year-old athlete, Rosemary Nwankwo of Anambra, emerged on Saturday as the fastest sprinter in the 100m female qualifiers in heat three in 12.23 seconds.
Angel Nelson of Cross River came in second with 12.68 seconds, while Florence David of Oyo State came in third with 12.83 seconds.
Dorcas Ogundipe of Ogun also qualified for the semi-final slot with a time of 12.85 seconds.
Others who made it to the semi-final include Elizabeth Adesanya of Osun, with 13.42 seconds ahead of Onyeakazi Miracle of Kogi, who clocked 14.14 seconds.
Also through to the semi-final is 14-year-old Rebecca Iyabode, 14 years old from Ogun, who won in heat two in 12.73 seconds, ahead of Ayomide Abass of Oyo State, who finished at 12.80 seconds.
Blessing Chukwuma of Delta won in heat five with 12.97 seconds ahead of Gift Allison of Bayelsa, who crossed the finish line in 13.00 seconds.
