The newly-elected chairman of the Ibadan District of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Babatunde Kilani, on Wednesday solicited the support, cooperation and loyalty of members.

In his address as the institute’s 24th chairman, Mr Kilani said during the investiture ceremony in Ibadan, Oyo State, said that this would help to raise the body’s bar of excellence.

He said he was aware of the responsibilities ahead of him, adding “But with support and prayers, nothing is insurmountable. We have accepted to serve and promise to be a unifying force for peace, progress and unity of our district.

“Honour shall be given to whom honour is due and we shall operate an open-door policy. Our listening ear shall not be closed, nor will we become deaf to the yearnings of our teeming members, particularly the sage among us. All interests shall be taken care of within our capabilities and whenever we need to seek help and counsel we shall not hesitate to do so.”

Mr Kilani promised to build on the dreams of the founding fathers of the association and uphold the tenets of the institute as enshrined in the District Societies Bye-laws.

In his address, the 60th President of ICAN, Davidson Alaribe, commended the immediate-past chairman of the society and her team for the development and innovative projects executed.

Mr Alaribe emphasised on putting in place a catch-them-young drive to ensure members of the young generation were brought into the professional body.

Also, the Chairman of the occasion, Titus Soetan, underscored the need for members to embrace modern technology in the discharge of their duties.

Mr Soetan, a past chairman of the society, also called for unity and team spirit to enhance hitch-free administration.

The immediate-past chairman of the society, Dr Temitope Babajide, recalled the several successes recorded during her tenure.
