The Niger government has pledged to collaborate with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in ensuring efficient traffic management across the state.

Secretary to the Niger government, Abubakar Usman, announced this when he received the newly posted sector commander of FRSC in Niger, Corps Commander Aishaat Sa’adu, in Minna on Monday.

He assured the corps commander the state government would collaborate with the FRSC in public enlightenment campaigns, logistics and joint operations.

Mr Usman expressed delight that for the first time, an indigent of Niger from Munya Local Government was appointed to head FRSC in the state.

“This appointment is both historic and a source of pride because Niger indigenes are not only excelling nationally but also entrusted with special responsibilities, ” he said.

Mr Usman commended FRSC for its role in promoting road safety and reducing traffic accidents, noting that Niger was a major transit corridor linking different parts of the country.

“We will continue to support the FRSC in ensuring safe roads for commuters.

“We recognise the importance of road safety management and we are committed to working with the FRSC to achieve our goals,” he added.

Responding, Ms Sa’adu appreciated the Niger government and the people of the state for the warm reception accorded to her.

She pledged to work tirelessly to justify the confidence reposed in her by the corps marshal of the FRSC and strengthen collaboration with stakeholders to reduce road crashes and promote discipline among motorists.

She also promised to ensure professionalism, integrity and service delivery and called on residents of the state to cooperate with the corps for the collective safety of all.

“We will work together to ensure that Niger State continues to serve as a model in road safety enforcement nationwide,” Ms Sa’adu said.
