Abdullahi Al-ameen, the commander of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) in Kano, has restated the commitment of the service to effective forest security.

Mr Al-ameen said this in an interview in Kano on Monday.

He said the service was doing its best to fulfil its mandate to stamp out criminal activities within the forests.

Mr Al-ameen said the command received 27 complaints from the public in February.

The commander stated that nine out of the 27 complaints had been treated while 18 were pending.

”Most of the complaints bordered on animal theft, cow rustling, motorcycle theft, kidnapping, phone snatching, women trafficking, among others,” he said.

He urged the public to avail the service of intelligent information that would help it to track down criminal activities within the forests.

”With the support of the public, we are prepared to rid the forests of criminal activities. We need their cooperation,” Mr Al-ameen said.
