Nigerians aggrieved by the midnight raid of two clubhouses in Akure, Ondo State, by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have mapped out plans to stage a protest against the invasion.

Peoples Gazette had reported that EFCC, in a statement, confirmed that its agents, early Saturday morning, arrested 127 suspected internet fraudsters during a “Yahoo Party” at Signature and Abah Clubs, in the Agbalaka area of the state capital.

In a move to express their dissatisfaction about the activities by operatives of the anti-graft agency, residents have shared pictures displaying information such as the date, time and venue of the protest.

One of the pictures shared by an X user, Oluyemi Fasipe, @YemieFash, on his account stated, “Fight For Your Right; #stopefccbrutality; a cry for justice in Akure, Ondo State; June 10, 2024, 7 a.m.; First Bank, Agbalaka.”

“Akure Accord Peaceful Protest; Stop EFCC Brutality, Agbalaka Roundabout; Akure, June 10, 2024, 7 a.m.,” another picture shared by @Mosky101 displayed.

Mr Fasipe had narrated the invasion by the EFCC to the Gazette, saying, “Last night, people were in the club, and all of a sudden, we saw masked men with guns enter into the club, started beating everybody they saw, asking people to lie down.”

“They got into the main hotel and tear-gassed. A hotel accommodating over 300 people tear gassed them, beat a lot of them, they went to the CCTV, damaged it and went with the box. They asked all the girls in the place to submit their phones. They collected the phones and took them away. They arrested over 100 people and took them away with some of their cars,” he stated.

Viral videos captured part of the incident, one of which showed the naked buttocks of a woman already turned red, a result of several wipes by the rogue operatives.
