Imo command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has decorated its 150 newly-promoted officers.

The commandant, Matthew Ovye, performed the decoration at the command’s headquarters in Owerri on Thursday.

Two officers were promoted from the rank of assistant commandant (AC) to the rank of deputy commandant (DC); 21 officers from chief superintendent of corps (CSC) to AC, and 15 officers from superintendent of corps (SC) to CSC, among others.

Mr Ovye, while congratulating the officers, admonished them to redouble their crime-fighting efforts for more robust service delivery to make Imo happier and safer for lawful businesses.

He advised yet-to-be-promoted officers not to be deterred but to keep faith alive as their promotions would come in due time.

He thanked the commandant-general (C-G), Ahmed Abubakar-Audi, for his commitment to the welfare and motivation of the corps’ personnel as evidenced in the promotion of officers and men.

“I admonish all celebrants to view this promotion as an added responsibility and as such, rededicate yourselves all over to duty.

“I urge you to join the bandwagon of the C-G towards rejigging, revamping, resuscitating, reinvigorating and restructuring the corps,” he said.

Also, the corps zonal commander, Zone E, Aliyu Ndanusa, an assistant Commandant-General, advised the promoted officers to justify their promotions by recommitting to the protection of critical national assets and disaster management, among other core duties.

The event was attended by the corps zonal commandant, Udo Uko, as well as heads of security agencies in Imo.
