Oyo govt. pulls down Yoruba Nation agitators’ building

Members of the group were later arrested by the joint security personnel during the invasion.

• April 17, 2024

The Oyo state government has demolished a building purportedly being used by some secessionists agitating for the Yoruba Nation.

The building was said to be located on Toye Oyesola Street in the state capital in Ibadan, The Punch reported.

Fatai Owoseni, a senior aide to Governor Seyi Makinde, confirmed the demolition in a phone chat but could not give much details.

The demolition came after the separatist group moved to take over the Government Secretariat, located in Agodi, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo, last week Saturday.

Peoples Gazette had also reported how the agitators, putting on army camouflage and armed with rifles, attempted to hoist their flag on the premises of the Oyo State House of Assembly, but their action was foiled by the security agencies

However, members of the group were later arrested by the joint security personnel during the invasion.

Many Nigerians have condemned the action of the separatist group.
