Police arraign marketers for theft
On Friday, two marketers, Ibrahim Ogundiran, 21 and Mosunmola Ibrahim, were brought before the Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ondo, for stealing N366,000.
The defendants are facing a two-count charge bordering on felony and stealing.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The police prosecutor, Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the defendants conspired to commit a felony on September 28, 2023, around 3:00 p.m. at No. 7, Lisa Quarters, Igodan-Lisa in Okitipupa magisterial district.
Mr Omoyeigha said the defendants stole N366,000 as proceeds of products they marketed for their boss, Maclean Onipe.
He added that the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390 (9), Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
Chief magistrate Philip Akinlosetu granted the defendants bail of N100,000 each and a surety each in like sum.
He added that the sureties, who must be residents within the court jurisdiction, must also show and present evidence of two years’ tax payment made to the state government.
He adjourned the case until March 28 for further hearing.
