The speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas, has said that the Renewed Hope Legacy Projects being launched in Zaria would strengthen ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity.

The speaker disclosed this during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Federal College of Agriculture and Animal Science in Zaria on Saturday.

Other institutions are the Federal Sports Academy, Zaria; the Federal Technical and Vocational Training Centre; and the Centre for Management Development, among others.

Mr Abbas said the institutions would equip young people with practical skills in agriculture, technology, construction, leadership, and sports, stressing that the sectors had direct links to peace-building and economic stability.

He said the projects would expand opportunities for young people and build stronger and more resilient communities.

The speaker said the two-day rollout of development projects reflects a deliberate strategy to address the root causes of insecurity through education, skills training, jobs, and improved infrastructure.

While assuring that significant progress was being recorded in security operations nationwide due to the bold actions of President Bola Tinubu, Mr Abbas noted that “long-term stability depends on empowering the youth.

“Young people become less vulnerable to criminal recruitment when they have skills and employment opportunities.”

He observed that the legacy projects were designed to complement the federal government’s security efforts by creating pathways for livelihoods, innovation, and community growth.

Earlier, Minister of Environment Balarabe Abbas commended the speaker for what he described as an unprecedented wave of development projects transforming Zaria and its surrounding communities.

The minister, who was the special guest of honour at the event, praised the strong partnership between the president, the Kaduna State governor, and the speaker.

He noted that the level of support and coordination among the three leaders was directly reflected in the numerous infrastructural and educational projects being executed across the constituency.

Among the projects flagged off were the Federal College of Agriculture and Animal Science and the Federal Technical and Vocational Training College.

Others are the Federal Sports Academy, the Centre for Management Development, and male and female hostels at the Nigerian Institute of Leather Science and Technology (NILEST).

The speaker also announced a fully funded scholarship for students pursuing leather technology.
