School leaver jailed one month for stealing N3 million agrochemical products
The Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, on Wednesday, sentenced a secondary school leaver, Chika Agu, 21, to one-month imprisonment for stealing agrochemical products worth N3,104, 950.
The magistrate, Abimbola Amole-Ajimoti, gave Mr Agu an option to serve one month of community service.
According to her, community service will be at least five hours per day for one month.
Ms Amole-Ajimoti ruled that Agu was found guilty of one count of theft.
The police had charged Mr Agu with theft and fraudulent conversion.
The prosecutor, Philip Amusan, told the court that the convict committed the crime between 2018 and 2020 at Collins Group Ltd, Ibadan.
Mr Amusan said the money was from the sales of agrochemical products belonging to Vincent Okoli.
He said the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
