A chief magistrates’ court in Jos on Monday sentenced Moses John, 19, and John Edwin, 22, to one year in prison for conspiracy, burglary and theft.

However, magistrates Adam Sadiq and Hyacinth Dolnaan gave the convicts an option of a N100,000 fine each.

The magistrates said the judgment would deter other potential criminals.

Prosecution counsel Monday Dabit told the court that the case was reported on September 30 to the police through the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The prosecutor said the personnel were on patrol and caught the convicts with some dollars and Infinix phones. On interrogation, the convicts confessed to burgling the house of Alexandra Emmanuel.
