The Federal Ministry of Works has announced the closure of the Oworo-bound section of the Third Mainland Bridge from midnight on Saturday until 6:00 p.m.

The federal controller of works in Lagos, Olukorede Kesha, announced the partial closure in a statement on Saturday.

The controller said the closure would enable the ministry to carry out urgent repairs on the bridge.

The ministry official, who regretted the inconvenience the closure might cause motorists, advised them to use alternative routes.

Ahead of his administration’s first anniversary on 29 May, President Bola Tinubu departed Abuja for Lagos on Saturday (today) to inaugurate projects completed in his first year as president.

“In Lagos on Sunday, the president will inaugurate the concrete-paved road to the nation’s major ports in Apapa and Tin Can Island. The reconstructed road, which began under the Muhammadu Buhari administration, was financed by the Dangote Group, using its tax credits.

“On the same day, President Tinubu will formally inaugurate, by virtual means, the refurbished Third Mainland Bridge, which has drawn public acclaim for its excellent finishing and aesthetic furnishing. He will also commission, virtually, the rehabilitation of 330 roads and bridges across the country,” said a statement by the Presidency earlier on Saturday.
