Tolulope Ebun: Bosun Tijani’s ministerial nomination buttresses Tinubu’s eagle eye for competence

Visionary leaders understand that progress can only be achieved through a diversity of perspectives and a willingness to embrace those who challenge the status quo.

President Tinubu’s nomination of Bosun Tijani as a ministerial candidate showcases a commendable commitment to recognising and harnessing competence and capabilities. However, it is disheartening to see young people who should ordinarily celebrate the appointment of one of their own calling for the withdrawal of Tijani’s nomination due to his past expressions of concern over the Nigerian state and the management of our resources.

I commend President Tinubu for his discerning choice and call on young people to always criticise in more constructive ways.

President Tinubu’s choice of Bosun Tijani as a ministerial nominee reflects a refreshing departure from traditional political considerations. Tijani’s proven competence and unwavering dedication to the development of Nigeria’s technology and innovation sector make him an ideal candidate. As the co-founder of Co-Creation Hub (CcHUB) and Africa’s Talking, Tijani has demonstrated an exceptional ability to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation in the digital space.

By nominating Tijani, President Tinubu has demonstrated a commitment to embracing expertise, recognising the importance of cutting-edge technology, and prioritising sectors with the potential to drive economic growth. Such a decision signifies an approach to governance that transcends political affiliations and prioritises the nation’s progress over personal interests.

It is regrettable that some individuals are demanding the withdrawal of Tijani’s nomination based on his past expressions of dissatisfaction with Nigeria’s leadership and maladministration. We must recognise that constructive criticism is an essential component of any thriving democracy. Dissatisfaction with the status quo should not be viewed as a disqualification for public office, but rather as an opportunity to address the concerns expressed.

Tijani’s past expressions of concern demonstrate his deep-rooted passion for Nigeria’s progress and his commitment to bringing about positive change. As a ministerial nominee, Tijani’s critical perspective can serve as a catalyst for introspection and improvement within the government.

Visionary leaders understand that progress can only be achieved through a diversity of perspectives and a willingness to embrace those who challenge the status quo. By nominating Bosun Tijani, President Tinubu has exhibited the qualities of a leader who values expertise, innovation, and transformative ideas. It is through such visionary leadership that Nigeria can overcome its challenges and pave the way for a brighter future.

Rather than dismissing Tijani’s nomination (based on his past criticisms), we should appreciate the fact that President Tinubu is willing to surround himself with individuals who can provide fresh insights and solutions to the nation’s problems. It is imperative that leaders foster an environment of open dialogue and collaboration, where diverse opinions are valued and leveraged for the benefit of the nation.

I extend my heartfelt wishes to Bosun and respectfully urge those who disagree with his previous remarks to approach the situation with fairness, logic and compassion.
