Two men, Yetunde Awaye, 37, and Mohammed Afisu, 41, who allegedly stole a Rolex chronometer wristwatch worth N9 million, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

The defendants are standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen good.

They, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that the defendants and others at large committed the offences on April 6, at 8:00 p.m., at No. 11, Town Dada Femi St., Ikotun, Lagos.

Mr Ajayi said the first defendant (Mr Awaye) stole the wristwatch belonging to Taofeek Oriola, while the second defendant (Mr Afisu) received the property.

Mr Ajayi alleged that Mr Afisu received the stolen property on Ikotun Road.

Magistrate Ejiro Kubeinje granted the defendants bail of N1 million with two sureties each and ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant and show evidence of tax payment to Lagos government.

Ms Kubeinje adjourned the case until July 7 for mention.
