Detectives from the Enugu State Police Command and men of the Neighbourhood Watch have arrested two teenagers for allegedly stealing a tricycle from where it was parked during a wake.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this on Sunday, in a press release shared on the command’s official X handle on Sunday.

According to the statement, the two suspected interstate tricycle thieves, who were arrested on Friday, confessed during interrogation that they committed the crime of stealing in Ebonyi and Enugu states.

“Michael Chikaodiri Okorie, aged 18, and Christian Eze Okorie, aged 19, both male and of Onicha Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, were on April 5, 2024, at about 11 a.m., arrested by the Enugu State Police Command’s detectives, serving in Central Police Station Enugu, with support from Neighbourhood Watch Group members. They were arrested at Mbanugo Coal Camp, Enugu, and a suspected stolen yellow-coloured TVC tricycle recovered from them.

“They further confessed to having stolen the recovered tricycle from where it was parked on April 4, 2024, during a wake, and were in the process of selling it before they were apprehended,” the police spokesperson quoted the suspects as saying.

He stated the duo would be arraigned and prosecuted upon completion of investigations.
