The U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Wednesday via Channel News Asia that the U.S. was not involved in the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Mr Blinken, during a visit to Singapore, also reiterated the need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to reduce tensions in the Middle East, saying the U.S. would work on it until it’s achieved.

He also said that the ceasefire was crucial not only to end the suffering of Palestinians in the region but also to bring the hostages home.
