Say 'NO' to Heathrow this Saturday

Come along to the 'Make a Noise'carnival to Stop Heathrow Expansion on 31 May 2008

Just a quick reminder to everyone who's been supporting the Stop Heathrow expansion campaign - don't forget to come along and add your voice at the Make a NOise carnival this Saturday. Decision time is fast approaching for the government - and they need a major reminder that if they are serious about tackling climate change, then 'NO' is the only sensible answer to the aviation industry's plans for unfettered airport expansion.

So we want to make sure the plans to expand Heathrow receive the biggest and loudest NO the world's ever seen. Literally. A great big NO spelt out by human bodies - the aim is to set a new world record as the biggest and loudest NO in the world.

It's not just a no to Heathrow expansion; it's a no to increased climate change, to increased noise and pollution, and to homes being destroyed.

If you want to be part of it join us at Hatton Cross Tube Station (Piccadilly Line, 12pm, Saturday May 31st). The carnival will then make its way to Sipson, the village that will be wiped out if Heathrow expansion goes ahead. At the end, you'll have the chance to help form the giant NO before hearing from speakers sending the message to the government that the proposals simply can't go ahead.

Here's everything you need to know about the day:

Where?
Meet at Hatton Cross tube station on the Piccadilly Line (map).

What time?
12 noon on Saturday 31st May 2008.

What's the plan?
The Carnival will make its way from Hatton Cross around the edge of Heathrow airport to Sipson - the village that will be destroyed if the third runway goes ahead. This is a journey of about two and a half miles.

We will then spell out a giant human "NO" to expansion at Heathrow, in Sipson War Memorial Ground. And after you've helped us create the biggest and loudest NO the world has ever seen, you can hear from speakers and enjoy the street-party in Sipson village with stalls, food, drink, and plenty for the children.

When will it end?
The NO should be over by around 3.30pm. The activities in Sipson will continue into the early evening, ending at 7pm.

What should I bring?
Water, packed lunch, sun cream if it's sunny, an umbrella if it's rainy, banners, musical instruments, your friends, your family and your MP!

Will it be legal?
Yes. This is an entirely peaceful and legal event that has been organised in liaison with the Metropolitan Police.

How do we get there?
We're encouraging everyone to come by public transport. Hatton Cross is on the Piccadilly tube line and can also be reached on various local buses. Check Transport for London's Journey Planner for the best way to get there.

And how do we get home?
A limited shuttle coach will run between Sipson and Hounslow West tube station every 15 minutes after 6pm. Various public bus services also run along the Bath Road, just south of Sipson village, which will take you to the nearest tube stations.

Is the day accessible?
Yes.

Remember to visit www.make-a-noise.org and invite your MP!
