Exhibition & Auction: Kurt Jackson - A Taste Of Glastonbury

Posted by jossc — 10 May 2010 at 3:54pm - Comments

Leading British painter and environmentalist Kurt Jackson is a long-time supporter of Greenpeace. As the artist in residence at last year's Glastonbury Festival, he created an amazing series of paintings and sketches - including portraits of Radiohead, Massive Attack, Lily Allen and Tinariwen as well as landscapes capturing the essence of the festival.

Kurt's paintings are set in places that he has travelled to and explored regularly. They are created by a person with a deep understanding of natural history and ecology (he studied Zoology at Oxford before turning to art), politics and environmental issues.

Now Kurt is generously donating 29 of the paintings and sketches he made at Glastonbury to Greenpeace. We'll be auctioning them online at Ebay for Charity from the 23rd May until 2nd June. Click on the picture link below to  get a sneak preview of them in high definition.  The paintings will be also exhibited at gallery@oxo on the South Bank from 19th-23rd May, 11am-6pm (admission free) and will then move to Bargehouse from 2nd - 6th June.

About Joss

Bass player and backing vox in the four piece beat combo that is the UK Greenpeace Web Experience. In my 6 years here I've worked on almost every campaign and been fascinated by them all to varying degrees. Just now I'm working on Peace and Oceans - which means getting rid of our Trident nuclear weapons system and creating large marine reserves so that marine life can get some protection from overfishing.
