Before the Government decided it needed to set up a Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, three reports into safety operations by BNFL at Sellafield nuclear plant were published today by the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate in February 2000.

They cover:
- BNFL falsification of data relating to the manufacture of MOX nuclear fuel rods exported to Japan
- BNFL's failure to meet a schedule to deal with high level nuclear wastes building up at Sellafield (PDF file 832k)
- an audit of the management of operations and safety incidents at Sellafield.
The reports constitute a damning survey of the company and its activities at Sellafield and highlight the deadly dangers inherent in the nuclear waste business.
