The Heathrow expansion consultation is a complete sham and a blatant stitch up from start to finish - it excludes any consideration of the most important issue - climate change - and is essentially a cosmetic exercise to allow the government to implement a decision they have already made with a pretence of having consulted with stakeholders. There are other ways of trying to influence this issue which we feel are far more likely to be effective, and you can find them by visiting our Stop Heathrow Expansion homepage.
However, if you would like to make a submission to the consultation, we recommend that you ignore the largely irrelevant questions in the consultation document and state what you really think. You can do this in a couple of different ways:
1) Going through the online submission process here -
But leaving all the sections of the submission blank apart from the required personal details and ‘Section E: General comments', where you should express your view on the issue in your own words. For example, you might write
‘I oppose all further expansion to Heathrow airport'
or
‘I oppose all further expansion to Heathrow airport due to the unsustainable increase in greenhouse gas emissions which it would cause, the damage and disruption to the local environment and the lives of the people who live there, and my complete lack of faith in the honesty of this government, caused by this sham of a consultation.'
2) Or by simply stating
your views in a letter and sending it to -
