Icelad - bottom of our 2006 sustainable seafood league-table

Iceland's promise of a new sustainable seafood policy is an exciting development. While it is not possible to assess this policy at this time, Iceland is keen to engage with Greenpeace on this issue once the policy has been finalised.

For the full story on Iceland see Chapter 10 of our new report 'A Recipe for Change'.

Beam trawling update: A big thank you to everyone who sent a message asking them to stop selling seafood caught using this highly destructive fishing method. As part of its new seafood policy, Iceland removed 50 per cent of its flatfish range last September in order to reduce beam trawl use. Only the company's plaice is now beam trawled (representing just 3.6 per cent of total fish sales).
