Indian’s External Affairs Minister met President Kiir and FVP Machar

October 24, 2021 — In his recent visit to the Republic of South Sudan, the Minister of External Affairs of India, V. Muraleedharan, met the president and the First Vice President to discuss issues of bilateral relations between South Sudan and India.

According to J1, the India’s Minister of External Affairs of India met president Kiir on Friday, October 24, 2021 in his office to discuss the ongoing implementation of the Revitalized peace Agreement.

“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit in his office met with the Minister of External Affairs of India, V. Muraleedharan to discuss the status of the ongoing implementation of the Revitalised Peace Agreement, bilateral relations and matters of common interest between South Sudan and India.” Read part of a statement from J1.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, the Minister of Presidential Affairs, Hon Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin said H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit expressed his gratitude to the government of India for offering scholarship opportunities to South Sudanese students to study in India.

On his part, V. Muraleedharan said the government of India will continue to support South Sudan in all areas ranging from the implementation of the Revitalised Peace Agreement, health and capacity building among others.

 The External Affairs minister also went to his tweeter account to acknowledge discussing cooperation, trade and investment opportunities with the First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny.

“Happy to have met H. E Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon, First Vice President of South Sudan. Discussed ways to take the cooperation, including trade and investment, further. He assured South Sudan’s commitment for pro-investment policy,” Muraleedharan said in a Tweet on Saturday.

 Through his twitter handle, Muraleedharan underscored India’s commitment to support capacity training for thousands of Africans who are studying in India.

“Under our capacity building initiatives, thousands of public officials, teachers, entrepreneurs, doctors have been trained or obtained their degrees in India,” said the minister.
