May 26, 2022 —- Jonglei road accident has claimed a life of a woman and 5 other passengers are critically wounded in a deadly road accident involving two vehicles along the Juba-Bor road in Jonglei state’s Bor County early this week, the police said.
Speaking to the media, Major-General Samuel Bidit Puok, the state traffic police commissioner, said the fatal accident occurred on Tuesday morning in the Malithtor area.
“The incident occurred at 10:00 am when a passenger Noah Vehicle hit from the behind by a V8 Vehicle belonging to a businessman called Simon Akuei Deng. Both cars were coming from Juba,” Bidit said. “After running into the V8 while trying to overrun it, the Noah overturned twice with passengers inside.”, State Traffic Police Commissioner Gen. Puok told media on Tuesday.
According to Gen. Puok, there were 12 passengers including two children. One female passenger died hours after the incident and five other passengers were critically injured.
Some other passengers including Akuei. whose car was hit, also sustained some minor injuries.
The state traffic police commissioner pointed out that investigations are ongoing and that the wounded people are being treated at a Chinese Hospital in the capital, Juba.
Gen. Puok urged the drivers to be careful while driving along the Juba-Bor road which is currently under construction.
